Everything You Need to Know
Whether you are a seasoned player or a complete beginner, all are welcome to our club. Our driving principle is community first. While we are a competitive team, first and foremost we strive to create an open and welcoming place for all who want to try the 'greatest sport on grass.'
Prospective players are able to come and try out hurling at any practice. We have extra equipment that you can use -- just let us know, contact us today! League Play and PracticesWe play year 'round with a break during November and December. Our seasons are broken up into indoor and outdoor sessions. Additionally, practice is held 1 or 2 times a week with inter-club games once a week during both sessions.
Pub League (Outdoors) Our most expansive season is our Pub League and is played outdoors, April through October. This consists of weekly practices along with predominately inter-club games. There is also typically one conference tournament a month. Practice and games are held at Nike Sports Complex in Naperville. Indoor Winter League During the months of January through March we practice and play indoors at Naperville Yard. This session also consists of inter-club games and registration includes a small additional fee to cover facility costs. Competitions and TournamentsThroughout the year we compete in several competitive tournaments both locally, regionally and sometimes nationally. Our club will typically host a tournament in July, in honor of our late teammate and former captain, Joe Hurd.
Social EventsBuilding teamship off the field is an integral part of being a successful team on the field. We host a variety of social events including post-game and practice casual get togethers. Some of our social events have included playing hurl-golf and hurl beer pong, pub crawls, Ireland finals viewing parties, and more! We also have a solid group that travels for tournaments and attends a lot of parties for other clubs.
Annually, we march in the Naperville St. Patrick's Day parade and participate in the West Suburban Irish Fest in Naperville. Keeping in TouchWe use the app Heja to communicate as a team and also to view up to date schedules and games.
