Our first youth indoor program ended as a resounding success! We entertained and taught about 30 kids how to play hurling and had many first time players attend. The shear fun of the sport grabbed their attention and they learned so much and so fast that the coaches were all amazed! The final two sessions were mostly half-court games with the kids demonstrating all of the skills they learned in the first 4 sessions. We are also happy to announce our first Naperville Park District camp! It is a three-day Cul Camp, Irish for "Goal Camp", from June 22-24. This camp is designed for youth from 6-14 and will have coaches available to teach all experience levels, from absolute beginners to experienced veteran youth players. In any event, all participants will have a great time and wlll receive both t-shirts and a medal upon completion! Call or text Kevin at (630) 306-6983 for more information!
What a season! After a 3-0-0 start, the Optimum Nutrition Team ran into resurgent Ballydoyle and Quigley's teams and finished the season in 1st Place with a record of 3-2-1 as compared to Ballydoyle at 2-2-2 and Quigley's at 1-2-3. ON started strong getting a meaningful 5 point lead. Quigley's not only battled back but then itself took a 4 point lead. ON battled back to a tie and, with 10 seconds on the clock Quigley's Clément Chiesa made a nice pass to Ruaíri Conaghan (who had been lighting ON up all night) who put a nicely placed shot on goal taking the lead 16-15. Needing the victory to force a playoff with Ballydoyle, Quigley's did what it needed to do. With the game seemingly over, a quick puck out down the right side was snagged by Brett Johnson of ON with 1.5 seconds to go, who made a quick move to his left and put the sliotar in the back of the net just before the buzzer sounded, tying the match! Quigley's played a remarkable game, fighting and scrapping on both ends of the court. In honesty, they earned the win! If not for the last minute heroics of #13, there would be a playoff between Ballydoyle and Quigley's with the victor taking on ON for the cup. Instead, the game ended 16-16 and the tie ended Quigley's chances for the 2015 indoor title. The championship game will be held outdoors and a date will be provided as soon as it is set. Great season by all!
